Kids Connection

Kids Connection Care and Education offers Child Care programs for children 2 ½ to 12 years in Richmond Hill, Markham and Vaughan at our 8 locations. We are a non denominational, community based, non-profit organization, serving children 2 1/2 years to Grade 6 and licensed under the Day Nurseries Act of Ontario. We incorporated in April 1991 and operate with a volunteer Board of Directors elected from parents and community members.

Our Vision
Focusing on Children
We see each child as a unique individual with preferences, interests and important family connections. We strive to know each child through careful observation and assessment, cultivating strong relationships with families and studying child development theory. At every stage of development children have a profound desire to connect with others and learn about the world around them. We consider all of these important elements as we form relationships with children and their families, and plan our environment and program.

Cultivating Relationships
Strong connections with family members and significant others are the foundation for the healthy growth and development of young children. We put relationships at the centre of everything we do; from cultivating our own meaningful opportunities for relationships among families, as well as developing strong teaching teams within the staff to ensure a quality program.

Ensuring Partnership with Parents
We believe that parents are the experts when it comes to knowing their children. Throughout our program we support and validate all families and ensure they are represented and included in the daily life of the program and the care and education of their children.

Creating a Home-like Environment
To ease the transition between home and school we design cozy, homelike environments with elements of beauty and softness ensuring feelings of security and a sense of calm. In our environments there are places for children to be quiet and alone as well as active explorersu sing their bodies and senses. We follow a predictable schedule so children can feel secure; yet maintain flexibility in order to focus on childrens’ individual needs rhythms and interests.

Planning Experiences
We see the time that children spend in our programs as filled with rich possibilities for development and learning. We regularly plan experiences where children can explore and interact with materials and people to discover things about themselves, others and the world around them.
